Jessica Lavallee Remmey

Jessica Lavallee Remmey is a self-taught photographer who looks for a unique perspective to capture the scenic beauty of Vermont. She hopes to help others discover and appreciate some views of Vermont and nature they may not have noticed before.

Jessica was raised in Milton and now lives in Grand Isle. Photos have always played a large part in her life. As a child, her parents would often take the camera along to document travels and daily life. Jessica continues this herself with her own camera. Many of her most memorable photos are captured by chance, just having the camera along and coming upon the perfect scene. While student teaching as an Early Childhood Education major at the University of Vermont, Jessica created a photography project with preschoolers. Each child captured their favorite things on film. These were turned into a gallery exhibit in the preschool.

Jessica's primary subject started as Vermont landscapes. This expanded into children's portraits through her work as a preschool teacher. As a portrait photographer, she seeks to capture each person's personality and let it shine through in the photos.

Jessica also photographs weddings in a photojournalistic style, capturing the special moments and unique details so that viewers of the pictures feel as if they were part of the day.

Jessica is a member of the Milton Artists' Guild and the Champlain Islands Artists' Organization. Her work is sold at Shelburne Farms, Allenholm Farm, and the Vermont Butcher Block and Board Factory Store in Burlington. Her photos have been on display at the Islands Open Farm and Studio Tour, Burlington South End Art Hop, Northwest Medical Center, Milton Public Library, Apollo Diner, Uncommon Grounds, and Mirabelles. She is also a featured cover artist for the Islander newspaper.

Exibits:
I am participating in the BeCAUSE Craft Show at St. Michaels College on March 12. It's a benefit show where vendors donate at least 50% of their profits to a charity of their choice. It's my 4th year doing the show and it's always lots of fun.

I'm also working on the planning committee for the Open Farm and Studio Tour for the Islands which is happening July 9 and 10 this year.
