Pilar R. Paulsen

As child Pilar spent winters in the high Colorado Rocky Mountains and summers on the warm golden California beaches. Spending her life in 2 worlds set the guidelines for the artist she would become. Her art bears witness to both free form expression and tight ritualistic traditionalism. Pilar has created and painted since childhood and acquired her BA in Fine Arts in 2000. Utilizing watercolor, acrylic, oils, ink, and oil pastels she also blends non-traditional ingredients into her "art recipes" on canvas, such as charcoal, flowers and spices. She revels in subverting conventional art practices and habituating new ways of utilizing mixed media.
