Cocoa & Canvases: PTA

The MEMS PTA and Board is a 100% volunteer organization composed of over 100 parents, and school staff who are interested in working together to make the most out of our children’s education. We believe that children learn more and have better lives when parents, school staff, students, and the community work together. Our PTA brings these groups together in creative ways and we love to share thoughts and ideas about programs and activities that benefit children.

In a world before covid, the PTA started and sold out a Cocoa and Canvases fundraiser (think family friendly Paint and Sip) to raise money for extra supplies/programming in the school. We had intended to make an annual occurrence, but have not had access to the school for the past 2 years. It is looking like this will be the first year we may be able to start it up again! We have blocked off Friday March 18th and would like to run a 5:30 and 7:00 session. We have plenty of volunteers to help set up, assist during the event, and wash brushes/clean up afterwards, but what we are lacking is a few wonderful volunteers with artistic abilities to lead the painting sessions. (Any child painter must be accompanied by an adult painter)

We have reserved both cafeterias in the elementary & middle school for the event so we can space people out as much as possible. Each room needs an artist to lead a painting suitable for any age. We are hoping for two people who would be interested in leading two painting sessions on Friday March 18th, 5:30-6:30 and 7:00-8:00. (This will give us a 30 minute window to wash brushes and turnover the rooms.) Is this something you would be able to help us with? It was such a success and tons of fun for everyone who participated in our first/last event. Please reach out with any questions you may have, and we would be happy to work with you in any supply/logistical questions. In the past we provided the canvases and the art teachers provided the paint, but we are able to purchase paint for this event. I look forward to hearing from you!

Vermont Conference on Christianity and the Arts

Perhaps you’re a fan of the arts—a reader of poetry or prose, an appreciator of paintings and photographs, a lover of music or theater. Perhaps an amateur artist. Or perhaps a practicing artist looking to improve your craft or to think about your work from a Christian perspective. Maybe you want to incorporate arts into ministry, or to support and encourage artists around you. Wherever your interest in the arts lies, this conference has something for you. We seek to bring together intellect and heart and craft. Sessions explore a variety of topics and genres, offering both hands-on craft workshops and discussions of art: sessions for working artists as well as for those interested in a deeper appreciation and understanding of the arts from a perspective of Christian faith.

Artist Retreat: Merida Mexico

Missisquoi Refuge Art Show

Hope your group members will consider showing their work and joining us for events at World Migratory Bird Day on May 21st.  Please share this invitation with those that may want to participate.  We are so excited to have the show back at the Visitor Center after it was canceled 2 years ago and online-only  last year, due to COVID.
