Kristin LeClair

Being raised in a family of New England artists, I have always gravitated towards drawing and painting inspired by nature. I studied figure painting, fashion, and makeup at the Art Institute and Columbia College Chicago. From there I co-founded a special fx makeup company and spent several years creating characters, lifecasting, and crafting prosthetic appliances for film and television.

A few years ago I came back to Vermont to reconnect with the land. Along the way, I rediscovered the art of egg painting, which I learned from my mother at a young age. I select eggs from ethically raised hens, blow and clean the shells, then paint or decorate with mixed media. This process is meditative in itself, and I often incorporate geometric shapes similar to the mandala, so I call my collection: Eggdala.
